2012 Council election
Council elections
Nominations for the President, Vice President and two Councillor positions serving on the Council of InternetNZ for a three year term (ending at the AGM in July 2015) are now open.
A role description is available here.
Officers and Councillors are entitled to honoraria for their positions. All meeting and travel expenses are paid for by the Society. Time requirements are detailed in the role descriptions.
Nomination process
- Nominations will close at 5pm on Thursday, 21 June 2012.
- Nominators are asked to use a subject line of "NOMINATION".
- Nominees are encouraged to provide a biography or election statement and a photograph. These will be published on the InternetNZ website.
- Voting, if necessary, will commence online on at 5.00pm on Thursday, 28 June 2012.
The Returning Officer is happy to supply a neutral nomination to any member wishing to stand for office. If such nomination is required, please contact the Returning Officer at election@internetnz.net.nz.
Important notes:
- A new requirement for all registered charities (which includes InternetNZ) is to inform the Charities Commission if an Officer or Council member becomes disqualified. Under section 16(2) of the Charities Act 2005 the grounds include, for example, bankruptcy and criminal conviction. Members should note this requirement before putting in a nomination.
- Only financial individual members may serve as Officers or Council Members. Please see clause 6 of the constitution for details of this and other requirements.
